The workshop was chaired by Prof. Feng Xuan, the Deputy Dean of GEST.

Four well-known scholars in the field of geophysics were invited to give lectures by GEST. They are Dr. Maksim Bano, an associate professor from Université Louis-Pasteur Strasbourg I, Dr. Christopher Juhlin, Academician of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden, Dr. Michael Fehler, Executive Director of the Laboratory of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Dr. Stephen Brown, Researcher of the Laboratory of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Students and scholars who are interested in the topics are welcome to participate in the class, besides students in the major of Geophysics. A total of 334 people signed up for it.

The successful holding of this workshop has not only improved the professional ability of our students, but also promoted the implementation of teaching in English. This course is systematic designed from basic to advanced. It will eventually be incorporated into the cultivation program, operated in English, for graduate students and lay a solid foundation for recruiting international students. For young scholars, it both builds an international exchange platform and lays a good foundation for scientific research cooperation.
